What do you define as your community?
This is surprisingly a very subjective word. Some people may consider their community to be their church. Others believe this word reflects their residence or even where they were raised. At the end of the day, we are all involved in a variety of different communities due to different personal reasons.
I do everything I can to stay active with my personal, business, and religious communities. From a business perspective, this is a great way to engage people and grow my companies as a result. On top of that, I actually get to use my skills to help and support others.
How can you get involved? Non-profits needs people on their boards as well as volunteers. Churches need ushers. Your personal reputation will be enhanced and therefore your business credibility. Your skills are auditioning for others to a certain extent. If you’re unemployed, this may also be a great gap filler and networking opportunity. At the end of the day, the important thing is that we are supporting each other and helping our communities flourish.
